RARE 1920s beaded snake necklace!! 

During WWI Turkish prisoners of war made crocheted, beaded snake souvenirs to sell or to send to family. After the war the craft spread and became a cottage industry. During the 1920s and 30s these beaded snakes were made as wearable jewelry. This is one such example.

The snake is super flexible due to its crocheted body. Done in gorgeous blue glass beads on a crocheted base with golden yellow and white flower-shaped spots throughout the body. Eyes are yellow with green pupils! Evil sky blue red-tipped tongue inside its mouth!! Yellow stripe at neck. Belly is done in white glass beads. 16.75" long end to end. Can be worn as a choker or bracelet. Snake head slips through the loop at tail.
