1930s Blue Sequin Evening Gown

1930s Blue Sequin Evening Gown

Breath-taking very very rare 1930s evening gown completely encrusted in sequins!! This piece is extremely similar to a 1930s Chanel gown owned by the OSU Historic Costume and Textiles Collection (shown in final photo). Could possibly be Chanel or a licensed Chanel design of the period, but no label remains. Spectacular to behold. Sequining on every single inch! Completely covered! The sequins are dual sided, with one side bright blue in tone and the other side a metallic paler yellowy-blue tone. They can be flipped manually if desired, so could be made uniform, but meant to show a mixed, mottled array, adding wonderful depth and interest. This, combined with the natural tonal variations occuring when light reflects on each sequin, creates such an amazing effect! Absolutely masterful. In photographing the back I showed both sides of sequining. Fitted silhouette, classic Old Hollywood, with side snap closure and curve-hugging shape. Folded collar and hidden snaps down front bodice. Decorative leaf-shaped buttons with rhinestone encrusted centers. Short sleeves. Long elegant skirting with 10" slit in front (hard to see the effect of the slit in my photos, but it shows beautifully in the photo of the Chanel piece, which has the same detail - see final photo). Adorable breast pocket! So unusual and rare, in incredible wearable condition. Amazing!!

LAYAWAY is available for all items, please message me for details.

Some stretch

Waist: 26" - 28"
Hip: 32" - 38"

Condition: Excellent. Upon inspection minor melting of some sequins at underarm seams. Almost all sequins appear to be present and intact, but I did notice some missing ones. I would say 99.5% are there. Color is a bit warmer in life than the photos look on my monitor.
